Some people seem to really like her. She's very nice, but the way she lectures and the research project I found to be very uninspiring. The content is quite interesting, but a lot of the passion for the topic was zapped out of me taking this class. She struggles to understand and adequately respond to students questions in most cases.

She is one of the most fair profs I've had and is open to feedback after each test. This is the kind of class you can get 100% in because the expectations for each exam are so clear. One flaw is she wasn't great at answering questions sometimes and seemed to miss what people were confused about. Still, this was my favourite course this term

A review below said the bad reviews come from arts students who don't know how to study. And well, I'm an arts student and I got an A+ in the course. Regardless of how well I did in this course, yes, it was difficult. You'll do fine if you study for her exams for a week straight. She's super nice but didn't help me grasp the concepts well.

Do not take this course, the prof has really poor teaching abilities. Lectures are extremely disorganized and she does not connect topics. The exams have very specific questions on them that reflect a minimal amount of the content we covered in class. The prof lectures in a very confusing way and does not know how to relay information accurately.

Dr Im is a sweet prof, but I think her teaching skills fall short, especially with the dense content (anatomy and neuroscience). You can grasp the content if you study a lot, but you have to teach yourself everything as her explanations are difficult and confusing. While she's one of the most caring profs, I wasn't a fan of her teaching.

Class is memorization-heavy and requires extremely detailed knowledge of each concept. Prof is very sweet and tries her best. I think students struggle not based on the prof, but purely on the sheer amount/complexity of content. Learning objectives are extremely clear, but class avgs are low. Sometimes one test question requires multiple concepts.

Content is interesting, but definitely a challenging course. Professor Im is knowledgeable but sometimes struggles to deliver the lessons smoothly due to stutters which leads to students losing their train of thoughts as well. I wouldn't recommend taking this challenging course if not necessary. Low average for class quizzes and exam as well.

While shes a nice person and does care, she's not a good teacher. She seems to struggle to relate the concepts together, everything she teaches feels disjointed. The textbook is a must, since she can't properly teach you the material. The quizzes and exams are passable if you study, but her questions are poorly worded and so specific. Low class avg

Super friendly and accessible. Difficult to understand at times but that is also due to the content being quite tough. The class was very challenging, quiz and midterm questions were quite convoluted and you're more than likely to trip up on sentence structures of the exam. A question can require you to think about 3-4 different topics at once.

She only reads off lecture slides which means you end up teaching yourself and feeling no need to go to class. The content is super dense and it could be interesting, however, she fails completely to inspire any kind of interest. Very good prof if you want a high grade, I took this class as an elective and found that you only really needed to show up to class when there is an exam. There are 4 exams and the lowest one gets omitted which is very generous. All her lectures are recorded so you do not need to attend class and she always responds quickly when emailed/ on piazza.

Dr. Im is super friendly and approachable, inside and outside the lectures. Her lectures are clear, engaging, and she includes a lot of interesting examples. She posts a clear outline of what topics to expect on the exams and the exams are pretty much based on the lectures and powerpoints.

Prof Im is amazing. She is always willing to help and her content delivery and expectations are clear. She is a caring individual who truly wants her students to succeed. This year we had 4 tests (lowest test is dropped) and while her tests are on the harder side, if you attend lecture and read the textbook you will do just fine.

The way she divided the course into 4 exams (the lowest grade of the four being dropped) actually helped me to learn and remember the class content in the long run. It also makes finals so much less stressful. I literally loved her so much and I can't begin to express how thankful I am for how the course was formatted.

I love this professor. She is by far one of the kindest professors at UBC and her continued want to support her students is what really made me love her class. Her tests are a little difficult, but if you stick to the textbook, you will do well. She has a very generous marking scheme that drops your lowest test. I recommend.

Professor He Yeon Im's Psyc 101 course was very manageable to balance with my other heavy courses. She is a clear instructor who is caring and supportive when you reach out for support. There are 4 exams (3 taken for credit), and she gives a breakdown of what to expect on each so you don't get surprised by questions. Overall an interesting course!

Much of the lecture content is straight from the textbook with a few extra examples thrown in. There is a required textbook that has assignments directly in it: you can complete all the course material in a day (besides the tests) if you wanted to. She has a really generous marking scheme where all the tests have the same weight and one is dropped.

It's her first year teaching but I think overall is pretty good. The exams are pretty difficult but very clear in lectures and textbooks. She is also very supportive and a very nice person to talk with. Recommended!

I see many negative comments about her but the TAs are the ones that grade the exams not her. The material is not very complicated but I agree that the exams are tough. However, she is accessible during office hours and is very helpful so I personally really appreciated how much she cares and is willing to help!
