This guy is too nice man. Spent half the class listen to people critiquing the midterms/assignments when I don't think it was deserved. Had some really cool lesson plans, anything interactive was great. The in-class essay could have used more structure/expectation explanation but a good class/prof! Midterms were somewhat challenging but not too bad

He has clear guidelines on how to do well and what will be tested on. But he makes the exams hard since we're being tested on finite details. Content on lecture slides is heavy so its hard to discern what he wants us to remember. He started the sem quite liberal but made an effort to say that psyc is underrepresenting conservatives so I liked that.

Friedrich is an awesome professor! I absolutely love the layout of the course - lots of small easy assignments to get easy marks, exams and an in class essay, and lots of participation in a way that is fun and engaging. The course covers lots of interesting content. He is also super funny and I always look forward to attending class.

He is honestly such a kind and caring Prof! He's extremely thorough in his work and super accommodating as well (within reason ofc). I would 10/10 recommend taking 305 with him. As for course structure, there are 2 midterms worth 15% each, 1 in class essay worth 30%, one final worth 30% and brief reflections for participation worth 10%.

I have no idea what political ideologies people are talking about, he clearly talks about nuances in research. It seems like people are offended that he does land acknowledgments for ten seconds of the lecture. He is very organized and posts both lecture recordings and slides. Fairly easy course, lots of content, and average grading

Such kindness and respect for his students, Such competence that he delivered all lectures with amazing quality, Such novelty with designing the course that he used fun memes, videos and organized PPT that made lecture no longer a hypnotizer. Best psyc teacher or maybe ubc teacher of all times.

I have a mixed reviews about him. PSYC 305A although an interesting course, some of the content is fairly heavy and he tries his best to accomodate that. Study hard enough and you'll do good. As for his political views since thats a hot topic here, he tries so hard to be liberal. Makes me think hes actually a closeted conservative

Prof. Goetz is absolutely amazing. You can see he genuinely cares about his students and wants to see us actually learning. He is very engaging with the class. People are complaining about him "getting political" when it is really just him acknowledging that some studies only account for cisgender people or traditional identities.

I LOVE dr. Goetz. I am in my third year at UBC as a psyc major and he is genuinely such a greta human and professor. He cares so much and is always laughing, I always look forward to his class. His midterms are so fair if you study properly and well. He is an absolute gem and I have nothing bad to say about him. TAKE HIS CLASS

This prof is incredibly political, constantly crapping on conservatives and republicans. Keep political ideologies out of the course please. As someone who is more right wing, this class was disheartening. Also he does a land acknowledge every Monday, give them the land back if you care so much. Course is good if you can sit thru the politics

This was a very fun class for someone not in psychology!! The content was interesting and Dr. Goetz made learning objectives very clear. The exams were fair as well. He is very caring about his students and also very funny as a person, so definitely visit him during office hours to chat:))

Dr. Gotz is super passionate about the subject which made the conversations engaging, however the lectures were super content heavy and so much reading. I think he is new to teaching so I'm sure the lectures will be more manageable in the future after feedback. Content is super interesting and Dr. Gotz is so friendly and caring outside of class.

He is a very nice guy, but nearing the end of the course the content got very bland. He is very picky on marking for short answers. No feedback was provided for our writing assignment that was worth 25%.

Dr. Gotz was by far the best prof I've had at UBC in three years! Really cares about his students, very clear on what he tests, very comprehensive lectures. He also actually takes student feedback and makes proper changes to his course in response - really impressive. Very funny and engaging to listen to. Would take a course with him again for sure
