  Prof. Burgess is very knowledgeable and is a great instructor from whom I learned a lot. She gives constructive criticism/feedback while also being kind and understanding, and I would definitely recommend her if you are hardworking and willing to learn.

  A pretty good choice for WRDS150A. Her course theme is Social Media so it's pretty interesting. Textbook was rarely used, only really needed for terminology for the quiz. Professor Burgess is very approachable and gave very valuable feedback on assignments. The content was boring at times, but there were engaging in-class activities most classes!

  She was an ok professor. She's been teaching this course for a while and has clear expectations to herself on what she expects from students. She's a tough grader, but the course work isn't a lot if you manage your time. Just pay attention in class and stay on top of it and you'll be fine

  This was the absolute worst professor I've had in my entire life, her classes are dull and she makes you question if you want to continue university . You may put blood sweat, and tears into your assignments but she'll make sure to give you the lowest grade possible. If you are considering taking this course go for anyone but Diane Burgess.

  Really nice prof, gives concise and thorough feedback on written assignments, also offers bonus marks if you read the syllabus. Assignments are highly technical thanks to the research nature of the course, but choice of topic is very flexible, and in class participation activities were helpful! For a required class, this is a solid choice.

  Professor Burgess is a very caring prof and gives fair feedback. The most important thing is to go to classes and office hours to ask her questions about things you are confused about. She's very patient and willing to help. Put in the work and you will be fine! She's really nice and the negative comment doesn't do justice to her.

  The content of the class is very dry but that's not her fault really. She is a fairly tough grader but I wouldn't say unfair, she does expect a lot for a 1xx level course though. I don't think most 1st years are equipped with the skills to get a decent grade in this class. She seems a bit distant from students with questions.

  This class is a solid choice for WRDS150. Her grading is relatively tough and precise but reasonable. The weekly workload is also reasonable and doesn't take a lot of time to finish. Hearing my friends experiences in other classes, I would say this topic is generally easier to write a research paper on since it's just general knowledge.

  Wrds is already brutal enough, but this class was terrible. There were countless writing assignments that I put so much effort into and received terrible marks with barely any comments. She doesn't seem to care about how you do in the class, her lectures are so dull. Only good thing is she gives an extension. Life while taking this class is HARD

  This class, combined with Burgess' teaching, made me consider dropping out of university and crushed my dreams. She does not care about her students at all, and she is possibly the worst grader. I took this class because I thought social media would be interesting, but with her expectations, guidelines, and requirements, it is impossible to like it

  BEWARE!!! Do not take this prof, even if you need the course for credits. She is such a terrible grader. I spent weeks on my assignments, presentations, and studying for the material and she gives the lowest marks possible. She wants you to fail.   The worst course I've taken in university. Impossible to reach if you need help. Also way too many topics that aren't interesting and confusing for the class. The average in her class is 67% although most people take it for their arts elective. Maybe she should learn to make her class more simple and less dry if she wants people to do well.

  Dr. Burgess is a really nice lady and caring professor. If you work hard in this class and take into account Dr. Burgess' feedback (go to office hours!), it's an easy A. I did OK in high school English and this course ended up being a GPA booster for me. Just make sure you're interested in the topic and be willing to put in the effort to learn.

  Prof Burgess is definitely a solid choice for Words150A. She marks tough but fair, and honestly, her feedback helped improve my writing significantly and helped it get up to par with the university standards. She's also really nice and easily accessible outside of class to answer questions.

  Dr. Burgess is a great prof! She has a funny sense of humour and cares about her students. Undoubtedly, WRDS can be a challenging and dry course, but shes always super helpful during office hours and will guide you with the assignments, so dont be afraid to reach out. She has clear expectations and grades fairly as well. Definitely recommend!
