Wiregrass's Marketing and PR team was recognized again with a national marketing award for 2023. The college was one of two nationwide colleges to receive a bronze award for the Social Media Marketing Series. The College Collegiate Advertising Program is an elite program that recognizes higher education organizations for excellence in their schools' communications, marketing, advertising, and promotions. The social media campaign featured recent graduates who had been hired before or just after graduation. “We wanted a way to celebrate our graduates from Fall 2022 and used the power of social media to do so as well as show others how Wiregrass graduates find great jobs in-field,” shared Lydia Hubert, Director of Marketing and Public Relations.https://lnkd.in/eUqXFg3p#SkilledAndHired #WiregrassMarketing #WorkforceDevelopment

It is that time of the week for #TinaTells - week 22.Here are 4 articles and my ad of the week that I have enjoyed reading from a #marketingprocurement point of view. 1.The Chartered Institute of Public Relations are celebrating their 75th anniversary and are looking for the ultimate public relations Campaign that Changed the World. So they asked a panel of experts to curate a number of campaigns from 1948 to the present day, with each demonstrating the enduring power of PR in driving positive change and shaping history. This is a great list of PR campaigns that have tried to and mainly succeeded in changing the world from Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott to Get Vaccinated against Covid - https://lnkd.in/esYpv98N2. SpendHQ and Procurious surveyed 181 professionals, including CPOs and other procurement leaders, CFOs and CEOs globally on their views on procurement performance and data management. They found that Procurement’s rising influence in organisations is heightening the need for digital transformation. One of the stats that concerned me was that ESG data woes continue with 46% of procurement teams not having enough ESG diversity data – this is key to being able to implement and manage a D&I supplier program - https://lnkd.in/eTQycmBT3. One criticism we get in #marketingprocurement is that we don’t understand or know the price of creativity. We do try hard to understand it (I also remember being asked my view of an Alan Shearer ad we did for Lucozade at Smithkline Beecham!) so I found this article by the brilliant Nils Leonard in the question is creativity dead and where have all the game changers go?A really interesting article - https://lnkd.in/eHi64sbE4. As usual a real interesting view from Wayne Blodwell with his UK:USA perspective on media. He calls out the fact that buying media at a global level is supposed to standardise ways of working, but in standardising, advertisers are going to miss huge opportunities to drive home competitive advantage by maximising what local markets can offer - https://lnkd.in/e62jeSFV5. Ad of the Week – I did play a small role in this ad (you will have to guess what!) – Ed Sheeran and The Kraft Heinz Company with Ed’s Tingly Ted sauces - https://lnkd.in/eFXRdz_h

Recently, our Public Relations Director,Marina Wood, and our PR and Social Media Executive,Courtney Chandler, attended thePenistone Grammar SchoolCareers Speed Networking Event. We spoke to around 200 year 10 students, who visited in small groups, about careers in PR, social media, and marketing. The first question we asked each group that visited us was: do you know what PR is? None of the students knew what PR stood for or what it involved.Yet when it came to social media, they instantly knew what we were talking about – no surprise! But it got us thinking, does PR really convey what we do for clients these days, and is PR, in fact, ready for a rebrand? What are your thoughts?#digitalmarketing#careersfair#digitalpr#socialmedia

Big thanks to Public Relations Society of America - Bluegrass Chapter and BCH Agency for hosting this week's discussion of social media trends. Some key takeaways:1) Marketers are looking at posts you share for a KPI (made me stop and think about what I use that share button for)2) Long form videos are on the rise to tell better stories (if you consider 1:00 to be long form 😀)3) More people are using social media as a search engineThe biggest note for me came from a panelist who said "storytelling is everything".Thanks to social media experts from BCH, the Kentucky Lottery Corporation and the Kentucky Derby Museum for sharing their thought leadership. (You think we like our wagering here in Kentucky? 😀)
