To receive financial aid through Virginia Tech, each student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year.
To receive financial aid through Virginia Tech, each student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Virginia Tech uses the FAFSA to determine eligibility for many scholarships (including general scholarships from our office), grants, work study, and federal student and parent loans. The 2024-25 FAFSA will become available in December 2023 (the Office of Federal Student Aid has not set a date, yet) and must be submitted (with valid signatures) by Virginia Tech's priority deadline of March 1, 2024 for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. Remember that for maximum scholarship and financial aid consideration, you must complete the FAFSA and the General Scholarship application by January 22, 2024

The mission of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid (USFA) is to facilitate access to a Virginia Tech education through the timely and accurate administration of student financial assistance. To accomplish this mission, resources are obtained, coordinated, distributed, and maintained in accordance with university, state, and federal requirements. Service to students and the university community and accountability for the administration of financial aid funds are the primary goals of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid.
