Pedi wants Michelle to have 2-3 bottles a day. 6pack cost 10 bucks...8 bucks for walmarts version. Its gonna add up pretty quickly....its gonna cost more than formula did.

Do you mean FSA-eligible? I just searched for it at drugstore.com and it doesn't say FSA. (That's how I look up all of my FSA stuff!)

My DD has been drinking it since she turned 1. I never attempted to get it covered. I do know that a lot of the kids I saw that had DR scripts were able to get it covered, at least in part, by SOME insurances. It's worth looking into.
Also - FYI - you can get almost the same amount of calories and nutrtional stuff in Carnation INstant Breakfast mixed with whole milk. There are dffferent ones though, so you'd have to label read to calculate it - but it ends up being A LOT cheaper that way, just not as convenient.

I've been doing the carnation instant and Ovaltine which is basically the same nutritional stuff. I told the pedi that so I was suprise when he said he rather have her on pediasure. I'm gonna go check some labels.

Poor Michelle - or poor you with having to pay for that. I didn't realize she was underweight? Or is something else going on? Just curious.

Our nutritionist actually suggested using the Carnation due to the expense of the pediasure. Interesting that the Dr. wants her to have the pediasure instead. Is she going to want to eat after having 2-3 bottles of the pediasure? I know that mine won't eat if he has one. I know you are dealing with food issues with your DD, but I'd guess you also don't want her on an all liquid diet either?

she barely eats enough as it is. Shes been living on juices, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese and sometimes pasta. nibbles a little on goldfish crackers and cherrios. She's gaining weight but the curve is slacking off considerably. So because she doesnt eat good she's severely constipated alot unless I keep giving her 1/2 teaspoon of miralax a day.

Good luck! I hope your insurance will cover it, because it is $$$! I also got the reccomendation of mixing it half and half with his milk.

You know we have dealt with this for DD. I am suprised at the doctor. I have been to at least 5 doctors for DD and they all say that milk + carnation = pediasure. I would ask him specifically why he want the pediasure (or call and ask his nurse). Also, I can't remember if she has peanut allergy or not. I think not. I have had very good luck with peanut butter, peas, and banana smoothies. You can put as much peanut butter in as you need calories (healthy fat). The peas give some good fiber and green veggie, and the banana makes it all taste good. DD slurps it down so fast, she doesn't notice the calories. It is also easy and portable, but real food.
