As we eagerly await the release of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, the next installment in the Call of Duty series, many players have burning questions about the game's release and accessibility. One of the most significant concerns is the game's crossplay and cross-platform functionality, which is a crucial consideration for those planning to purchase the game at launch.

If you're among those curious about the game's cross-functionality, we have all the details you need. Below, you'll find everything you need to know about the cross-platform, crossplay, and cross-gen features expected in Call of Duty Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Crossplay

We don't have official confirmation from Activision about whether the game will support cross-play atlaunch. However, considering that previous titles in the franchise did, we strongly anticipate that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will also feature crossplay from the start. This means that players on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC can team up with friends regardless of their platform.

As with previous COD games, console players (Xbox and PlayStation) can fully disable crossplayif they prefer not to play with PC users. The process will be similar to past games, allowing you to add friends via their Activision ID instead of their PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam/Battle.net friends list.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Cross-Progression

We also expect Call of Duty Black Ops 6 to include cross-progression at launch. This would allow players to log in anywhere using their Activision ID and carry over their progress. While we're still waiting for official confirmation from Activision, cross-progression has recently become a staple feature in the Call of Duty franchise, so it would be surprising if it were omitted this time.

In addition to cross-progression, we anticipate cross-generation play will be available, meaning players can compete against others on any console generation. While this could change, it's unlikely that Activision would limit lobbies in this way, as cross-gen play has been a key feature in other COD titles like Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

It's speculated that players on newer consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X) will experience higher frame rates and improved visual fidelity compared to those on older consoles (PS4 and Xbox One), though this is yet to be confirmed. All the information provided is speculative as we await confirmation from Activision. However, we believe that crossplay, cross-gen, and cross-progression features are very likely, and any updates will be shared here.
